History of Licensees
The pub first opened in 1840 and was known as the Navigation Inn. The pub changed
names in the 1850s to the Railway Inn when the Stoke-Manchester railway opened.
The bars are full of railway memorabilia signs, photographs, paintings and in 2004, a local artist painted two splendid large railway murals on the wall of one of the main eating areas of the pub.
